***Update***
Poor Peeta. His brother and sister were both adopted, but Peeta is still here waiting for his chance at forever. He only weighs 5 pounds and won't be much, if any, bigger. Please give Peeta a chance.
When our director received a call about three little dachshund mix puppies turned in at an outdoor shelter, she couldn't help offering them a place to go. It was cold in November when these little guys found their way to us and we couldn't stand thinking about them shivering outside.
So we now have Katniss, Gale and Peeta. Three little chiweenies that are quite characters. These babies were born on 9-21-11 and at four months old are still little. Katniss, the only girl, weighs a bit over four pounds. Peeta, her littlest brother, might weigh six. Gale, the "biggest" of the group weighs in at a whopping seven pounds. We just can't see these three growing much more at all.
Katniss, Gale and Peeta are ready to find their forever homes. They love it here but they don't want to grow up without a family. Don't you believe they deserve one?
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application
here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
