Abuelo's Story...
Abuelo is a male chihuahua that was tossed over the fence at one of our foster's yards. This poor seven pound guy had no idea where he was but he still came right up to introduce himself. At seven years old, Abuelo is a couch potato. He loves to nap! On the couch, in your lap, he isn't picky. Abuelo is ready for his forever home.

P.S. Did we mention that Abuelo LOVES to snuggle? We aren't kidding. As long as you have a lap to snuggle in, Abuelo will be the happiest guy on the planet.

The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.

After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.

Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Abuelo, a Greenville Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Greenville, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Greenville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Greenville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Greenville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Greenville paves the way for another one to be saved.
