Barley's Story...
Meet Barley! He is a sweet, sweet boy that almost did not make it out a high kill shelter but one of our volunteers saved him in the nick of time. He is a gorgeous golden mix, we think possible Australian Shepherd, that will have better days ahead. Barley is on the smaller side weighing 50 pounds and is about 4 years old. Barley does have heart worms and erhlichia, which both will be treated. Other than that, he is healthy and ready for his new home. He is good with cats, children, dogs and loves people! He is a calm, well mannered boy that really deserves a second chance! If you are interested in adopting Barley, please visit adoptagoldenknoxville.org and fill out an application!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barley, a Knoxville Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Knoxville, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Knoxville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Knoxville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Knoxville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Knoxville paves the way for another one to be saved.
