I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
Doodle Bugg is some sort of hound mix. She is approx 4 yrs old. We have her listed as a Redbone/English Coonhound. She spins when excited or stressed.
She has had a very rough life. As a puppy she was attacked by larger dogs and required surgery and skin graphs. She is healed now and has been patiently awaiting her forever home. She gets along with other dogs and will chase cats but not hurt cats. She does bark when excited. She is very loving once she gets comfortable with you.
Since she had to have so much vet care and therapy for the surgery and skin graphs she is hesitant about trusting people. I have been fostering her since her graph was healed enough to start physical therapy on her. She had to have physical therapy so the skin would stretch the way it was supposed to when she would move.
Once she trust you there's nothing you can do to her that will sway her trust. It's just getting past the initial hesitancy. She needs someone who is kind and patient to work with her and someone who is home more than I am.Questions about our adoptions? Rescue Group Info...
We rescue dogs which are family pets from shelters, as strays or from various other situations where they become homeless. We also offer rescue assistance to other people that rescue pets - through website space & screening of potential homes. We do this because we love dogs, they're not just dogs, they're fur kids.
People can meet our pets anytime. We have a formal adoption fair at Agrifeed Pets in Knoxville, TN, every fourth Saturday. This date is advertised through radio, TV and newspapers so as many people know about it as possible.
Conversation & questions/answers start the process, then an application, reference checks, a home visit and hopefully an adoption.
Our adoption fee of $175 covers the spay/neuters, all shots, heartworm tests, microchipping and whatever an individual dog needs. Each adopter signs a contract, requiring that the dog come back to us if the adoption doesn't work out, spells out some requirements for the dog's wellbeing and starts a 30 day trial period, which gives new families & dogs time to settle in together and work out any issues which may come up.
