My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie and her daughter Chloe were refugees who turned up at the workplace of one of our volunteers. Ellie was friendly to people, especially the ones who came to feed her every day. But she was protective of Chloe, who stayed in the bushes and would only come out once Mom had tasted the food and gave her the ok to come out and eat.

Once we had exhausted all possibilities of finding their original family with no success, we took Chloe and Ellie home and then to the vet for thorough check-ups and spay surgeries. We guess Ellie to be about 2 years old and Chloe was born around August 1, 2011, so she's now 6 months old.

Although they enjoy each other's company, they are not particularly bonded and Ellie in particular would be fine living as the only cat in a home. Neither one of them is bothered by other cats or the large, friendly dog in their current foster home. Both of these girls took instantly to the indoor life, and love having soft beds, good window views of the bird and squirrel feeders, and something tall to climb when it's time to get away from it all.

Ellie is a very quiet and well-mannered lady. She enjoys being close to her people, being petted, and some gentle playtime with her toys. She's not the least bit demanding but she does enjoy a peaceful household without the noise and activity of young children. Ellie would be a fine companion for someone who enjoys reading, watching movies, knitting, or other relaxing activities which can be enhanced by having a quietly purring cat nearby.

Chloe is more playful, as we would expect from a kitten. She loves toys and playing with other cats, so we're looking for a home with another young cat or kitten to be a playmate for her. Chloe likes to get on top of the cat tree where everyone in the household must pass by frequently. There she demands a toll of a few pets and a scratch behind the ears, and in return she gives a big purr, a little chirp, and some head butts.

Ellie and Chloe have perfect litter box habits, excellent house manners, and no food or medical issues. They have been spayed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, and are up to date on vaccines.

Chloe and Ellie, like all ARCF cats for adoption, have been spayed, microchipped, are up to date on vaccines, and have tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Chloe and Ellie, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.
