My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is another of those lucky cats who manage to find their way to the home of one of our volunteers when they are lost and scared. It's very unusual to find a long-haired white Persian wandering the streets, and we spent quite a lot of time and effort trying to reunite Teddy with his family. After months of searching, no one has stepped forward to claim Teddy, so we're ready to help him find his forever home.

We had Teddy thoroughly examined by our vet, and we guess his age to be between 4 and 6 years. Somewhere along the way, Teddy ran into some trouble, and he has a few scars to show for it. His left eye has an abrasion, which has healed into a small black spot, which you can see in the photos. There is nothing to do about it now, and he still has vision in the eye, but eye drops help keep it from getting further irritated. He's also missing a thumb, and one of his canine teeth goes sideways. None of this bothers Teddy and he eats a normal diet and has perfect litter box habits.

Teddy is very cuddly, mellow, and easygoing. He gets along well with all the people and cats at his foster home, although we haven't tested him out with dogs. He likes to be kenneled, and if a carrier is left open, you'll soon find Teddy curled up inside it. Teddy needs to stay indoors for the rest of his life, but he thinks he wants to go outside if the door is left open, so he needs a home where everyone understands the need to watch and monitor Teddy when doors are opened and closed.

As with all Persian cats, Teddy's face and coat require more maintenance than your average cat. His coat must be groomed at least every other day, slowly and gently, and the area under his eyes can be cleaned with contact lens solution and a soft toothbrush to keep him looking and feeling his best.

Teddy, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Teddy please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.
