My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Abbie is prom queen beautiful! She is a purebred platinum blond Golden girl with long, soft and silky fur. Abbie just loves to be near you. She is gentle, good with dogs and humans alike and sweet as can be. Abbie is 8 years young, with plenty of energy and a gentle, calm, and cuddly disposition. . . . all Golden. She will bring so much devotion and happiness to you and your family. Abbie's foster family is enjoying Abbie and getting to know her so please check back for her full GRFR bio and photos. In the meantime, Abbie wants you to know that she has a special request; she needs a family who will do something for her that she cannot do for herself. It is really easy -- so keep reading. . . .

GRFR and Abbie went to VRCC to see an eye doctor. We were concerned that she could have glaucoma in her right eye, having had her left eye removed due to glaucoma. Everyone was very happy to learn that Abbie does not have glaucoma. Her right eye has "anterior uveitis" a condition unique to Golden Retrievers that causes an inflammation in her iris. The inflammation is easily controlled with twice daily eye drops that cost about $50 a month -- or less through an rx program such as Walgreens has available for your canine family members. Abbie will have a re-check at VRCC, at GRFR's cost in a few weeks. She is all set to meet her you in the meantime. As with all dogs, you will want to include an eye check up as part of Abbie's annual physical. Best of all, the prognosis for Abbie's right eye is good as long as she gets her eye drops twice a day. As Abbie says, "That's really easy and I am so happy that you will help me with them. . . I love you too."
