I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, and up to date with shots.

Fred's Story...
7 year old Fred was dumped at the Many, LA shelter to be killed. I guess that now that he is an older dog, they no longer wanted him. Of course, as with most dogs coming from rural LA, Fred is heartworm positive. How sad that they couldn't even keep up with heartworm prevention that literally costs less than two Starbucks coffees per month. Fred needs a foster home while he goes through heartworm treatment. LBR pays all vet expenses during this time. The foster family pays for the food and takes care of the foster dog. Please email if you can foster. Donations to his care would be appreciated. To donate: please go to and scroll down to the donation button. Any amount helps. Thanks.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fred, a Folsom Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Folsom, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Folsom.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Folsom already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Folsom breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Folsom paves the way for another one to be saved.
