Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Eleanor came from a rural Kentucky shelter where she was called "Roger." He turned out to be a she -- a beautiful, long, slim girl with short stubby legs, one eye, a large head and a cropped tail. But her beauty doesn't end there! She also had a lot of broken teeth, but she isn't telling us what happened to her because she can't open her jaw more than a couple of inches. (Perhaps an injury that healed wrong?) She has adapted to eating and drinking without opening her mouth wide, but has resource guarding because she eats slowly. (I feed her in a separate room, problem solved!) She also drools after she drinks water, which she does sloppily. She can be grumpy with new dogs until she gets used to them, but she couldn't bite if she wanted to, so if the other dog acts hurt, they are just pretending for your sympathy - don't fall for it! She warms up to new dogs after a few days, but does need a little time to adjust. Since she came to my home as a foster, she had a ruptured eye removed, entropian surgery on the the other eye and a toe removed because of a tumor. She was a wonderful patient and healed quickly. She does have dry eye in her remaining eye and has to have meds twice a day for life. She takes it well as long as she's distracted with food. Despite clearly having a hard life, Eleanor is a loving, silly girl who loves nothing more than a good meal, a soft dog bed (or couch or lap), and a kind word. She likes walks, as long as she's in charge of the route and the pace, and car rides. She's stealthy. She's quiet and moves slowly, but when you turn your back, somehow she is in your seat and settled like she's been there for hours, without you ever hearing or seeing a thing! She always comes when called, she knows sit, and she is very treat driven. I don't need to crate her when I'm not home. She's very well-behaved, sweet and loving. She would make a wonderful addition to any home. She is named Eleanor after the elder Dashwood sister (Elinor) in "Sense and Sensibility" by Jane Austen (or "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" by Jane Austen and Ben H. Winters).
