Merry's Story...
Merry is a 5-month old dachshund mix. He is very affectionate, well behaved, and snuggly! He currently weighs about 11 pounds, so we don't think he'll be more than 20-25 pounds full grown. Due to circumstances at his foster home, he is not yet housetrained; however, his new owners must be willing to make him an indoor or indoor/outdoor pet. He and his brother Pippin were rescued from the Wilkes County Animal Shelter just before it was closed for repainting. They would certainly have been euthanized if we were not able to get them out. The adoption fee of $90 includes vet exam, deworming, puppy vaccines, rabies shot, and neuter at at Wilkes County Vet (to be scheduled soon). For more information and/or an adoption application, please email blairhancock@aol.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Merry, a North Wilkesboro Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in North Wilkesboro, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in North Wilkesboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Wilkesboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Wilkesboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Wilkesboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
