My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sabre is a purebred one and a half year old Alaskan Malamute. He was bought from a breeder as a pup with the intention of being the family's lifelong companion but unfortunately his owner is now having to leave the country for school and is hoping to find another family for Sabre that will give him the same love and care that he has been accustomed to his whole life. He is a big boy weighing 110 lbs.

Sabre has been raised with children of all ages and would love a family with children big enough to play with. He is fine with cats although he does want to play with them too. He loves going to the dog park and playing with the other dogs and would be fine with another friendly dog in the home for company.

Sabre is fully house trained and can be left on his own without issue. He is still a young dog however so would do best being left with intelligent toys to keep him busy while you are away. Ideally it would be great if someone was home more often so they could continue his training and ensure he continues to grow into a capable and respected companion. He was crate trained as a pup but no longer needs to be crated as he can be trusted to be left on his own.

Sabre knows his basic commands and can walk on leash but will need someone that will continue being consistent and further his education. He loves playing with toys and balls, running in the backyard, going for walks and trips to the dog park. He is an affectionate, loving and loyal pet. Sabre is an intelligent dog that loves to please making him a quick learner and easier to train.

Sabre would do well with someone that has large breed experience and was willing to continue working with him on obedience and overall good citizen manners. He is quiet in the home and eats less than what you would expect but Malamutes are usually gutsy so over-feeding can be a problem causing them to gain weight.

If you are interested in making Sabre part of your family it would be best to ensure that you have done your research and get to know the breed. They are much quieter and calmer than Huskies but bigger. They do need exercise but are not as boisterous and active as Huskies. They make wonderful family companions being very gentle with children.

Sabre is a young dog that needs a consistent, loving owner that will continue his training, give him lots of love and attention and make him part of the family.

If you think Sabre would be a good choice for your family, please visit our website at http://uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
