Jasper's Story...
Jasper is one of those fuzzy-faced dogs who look like they should be in a Disney movie. He may be part Schnauzer but whatever his genes, he is a handsome dog. He and a look-alike pregnant female were abandoned together and placed in a shelter . After the other dog delivered her puppys, she was taken into another foster home. Losing his home and then his best friend was pretty traumatic for Jasper so initially he was very shy but this lasted about a day and he then warmed up. He still needs a little time to regain some confidence and trust of people. He has made great strides in a very short time and is a happy active dog. He gets along well with other dogs. His foster mom is working on crate training and Jasper appears to be somewhat house trained. In addition his coat seems not to shed which may help in the case of an allergy situation. Jasper is fully grown, 15 pounds, up to date on shots, neutered and will be microchipped before adoption. We are working on some basic obedience training since he has a tendency to jump on people for attention but that may be his response to having been abandoned. It may be best that his new home not have very young children because of the jumping. With a little patience and attention he will make a great family dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jasper, a Schertz Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Schertz, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Schertz.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Schertz already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Schertz breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Schertz paves the way for another one to be saved.
