Charlie has had a bit of a rough start and out of the impulsive nature of humans he is now looking for his 4th home to be his Forever Home. His previous owner has decided to give him up because he was not a good match for such an easy going family with a special needs child, they were unable to give him the structure and training that an alpha dog requires.

Charlie is non-shedding and need to visit the groomers every 6-8 weeks to maintain a puppy cut. He is currently black but we can see silver starting to come through around his muzzle, toes and feet as well as in the fur close to his skin. It looks like this pup is likely to be SILVER/grey when he matures.

Charlie has come a long way since he joined his foster home not too long ago. When Charlie arrived he had been spoiled rotten, he was bossy and demanding. He often would walk around whimpering and barking for attention as in his previous home he would demand (bark) and his owners would pick him up. He has since stopped this behavior and has learned that being calmed and quieter is the way to get the attention he craves. Charlie is a really smart boy and has an Alpha Dog disposition and is therefore not suitable for a first time or passive owner, seniors or someone expecting to just have a lovey little “purse” or lap dog. First and foremost Charlie needs clear boundaries, routine, exercise and ongoing training then he can have lots of love and attention. Charlie now sleeps in his crate at night and when left alone. He is also doing well with house training as long as he keeps on a routine and goes outside often. When Charlie first arrived he had never really been exposed to other dogs, so when he met the other dogs in his foster home he was either too reserved or too pushy with his play. In a very short time he has learned how to interact properly with other dogs and will need to continue socializing daily with other animals – Obedience Classes are great for this! He loves to play and roll around with the other smaller dogs and can be quite submissive with them, he also really enjoys plodding through the snow after the big dog, he will even get a good game of “chase me” going back and forth with the gentler big dog. Charlie is not suitable for a home with young children (under age 15yrs). Charlie is great with cats and is currently in foster care with two felines. This little guy is very loving and soaks up any attention and praise given. He does love to sit on your lap, lay on the couch or cuddle but he also needs to continue to wait for this attention until his human wants to give it. He’s smart and is always watching and processing what’s going on. Charlie will need a committed, experienced owner to continue working with him to ensure he doesn’t fall back in to his spoiled rotten ways. We’ve seen such a great turn around in the little guy and we really want to find an experienced, dog savvy owner that is willing to take Charlie for further training. It would be most ideal if those applying have already researched proper training classes in their area.

THIS BREED IS NOT FOR EVERYONE! They are smart and can be dominant even though they are small in size. They need a keen owner willing to make an effort to socialize and not spoil them. RESEARCH before you apply - http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/toypoodle.htm .
