Birthday 2-14-06- When we got a call from our vet clinic almost four years ago about someone finding a dog walking down the highway, we went to see what we could do to help. Expecting a large dog, imagine our surprise when we found this little ten pound chihuahua. Albert was happy to see us, and we took him to his foster home.
Albert turned out to be heart worm positive. Fortunately he received a sponsor and was treated and is now negative. Albert is now seven years old. Albert was left with a grade 2 heart murmur, which unfortunately is an immediate red X for a lot of people. They simply don't take the time to research. A grade 2 heart murmur is described as functional. Without going into medical jargon, Albert can, and probably will, live a long normal life without any ill effects. He requires no medication. We hope someone will look past those scary words and give Albert a family to love. We know he deserves it.
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application
here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
