My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 02-18-2012: Dandi Valentino is an adorable 6 y/o maltese mix, who weighs 10.80 lbs. He was rescued at the last minute from an animal shelter where his time had run out. He had a upper respiratory infection which was causing a high temperature and labored breathing. After one week of antibiotics, he is doing much, much better. Dandi has also been diagnosed with a moderate collapsed trachea which is being currently treated with bronchodilators. The vet doesn't think he will need this medication after the respiratory infection has cleared up. He is feeling so much better and has a pep in his walk - he loves to greet both people and other dogs on his walks. He is very curious and alert when he sees a squirrel or a bird - he is not a barker. Dandi is both leash and housetrained - what a smart boy he is! He has not had such a good life before he was rescued, and he deserves a loving home where he will be cared for - well, forever, and never ever have to be moved again. His foster parents adore him and think he is such a super kewl doggie............how about you?

INITIAL BIO 02-13-2012: Dandi Valentino is an adorable 6 y/o maltese mix, who weighs 11.80 lbs; he is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Dandi was rescued at the last minute from an animal shelter where his time had run out.........Dandi is a very sweet little boy who spent every moment, of every year, sitting in a crate with his little female companion, who was adopted quickly from the shelter. The crate was covered in excrement and urine; both dogs' nails were curved under, almost growing into their paw pads, and matted so badly that their beautiful hair looked like dreadlocks. Dandi was covered in fleas and had hookworms; he had to be shaved down to the skin. He has been seriously neglected and ignored his entire life, and in spite of this, he is a loving, gentle-natured and very sweet little boy. He is both house-trained and leash-trained. It appears that Dandi may have a collapsed trachea and could also have kennel cough. His little body just heaves with coughs - he will see the vet immediately, so please watch for updates on this precious little boy.
