Here is what Maverick's family had to say about him:
Maverick is a sweet, friendly, playful and quiet dog. He loves his feet rubbed and he gives kisses to his best friend Willow(cat). He will put his head on your lap and give you puppy dog eyes when he wants a treat.
The only issues we have had with this sweet boy is that he doesn't like to give up his rope toys, he sometimes doesn't like to come in from outside and instead he wants you to go outside and play with him, and he doesn't like the rain so sometimes it takes a bit to get him to go outside, he cannot be let off leash on his walks as he tends to wander away. There have been no other concerns and overall Maverick is a wonderful boy.
Maverick loves to go for walks and playing in the backyard. He really enjoys playing in the snow. He also loves playing with his towel when he comes in from outside. He is currently left alone in the home for 8 - 10 hours with no issues. He does not live with children and although he is fine with children of all ages he would do best in a home with older children only. He is good with other dogs and is fine with cats (his best friend is a cat named Willow). He has no fears and is friendly with everyone. He is very affectionate and loving. He loves attention and is adorable and caring. He gets very cuddly when you are ill. He does like to beg for food especially where apples are concerned.
Maverick is fully house trained and knows his manners in the home. He knows his basic commands and is well behaved. Although he is crate trained he does not need to be crated and hasn't been for sometime. He eats only dry Orijen food and does not get any table scraps.
Maverick has been trained to move to a different part of the house when we vacuum and "down" and "off" are different commands for him. "Down" is to lie down and "off" is to get off of the furniture. We say "No" if he wants more treats than he should and "Enough" if he gets disobedient. He loves apples, carrots and peanut butter. He does give a couple of barks when he wants in from the backyard and will warn you when someone is at the door. He doesn't show aggression when someone visits. Being almost 9, all we ask is that his name is not changed.
