My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated March 15th.....Meet Ryder a 12-14 week old cutie pie., and about 20 pounds. Ryder loves to go for long walks/runs and play fetch, and thus would make a great walking or running companion. He is really catching on to his daily commands of sit, no, and come. He currently has two foster dogs that he gets along with very well, but Ryder can be selective with his new playmate.. Although Ryder is still a little mouthy, he otherwise does very, very well with children. If you are looking for a true companion, Ryder’s your pup as he loves his peeps. He is very far along with his housetraining, like I said he is remarkably smart. He loves to show affectionate and will stand by your side. The foster mom said Ryder has adjusted the fastest of all her foster pups, and is pretty much a typical pupppy. Anyone will be very lucky to have this incredibly intelligent, loving pup as a member of their family.

Ryder is extremly intelligant and we think might make a terrific search and rescue dog. We believe that Ryder was taken away form his family way to young as he doesn't know how to play with dogs. He does well with hyper dogs that are soft, or calmer dogs, which is what you can see in the video. An aggressive, hyper dog, would not be a good match for Ryder, although a soft alpha would be great for him. In addition Ryder will either need to go into a home that already has an existing dog, or Ryder will need to attend Doggy Daycare in order to learn proper doggy socialization skills. You must commit to brining him to doggy daycare if you have no other dogs and please make mention of it in your application. This is very important as we don't want him growing up not understanding his fellow dog partners and then becoming fear aggressive. Ryder Loves, Loves his peeps, he is just a little unsure of how to play with other doggies. He wants to play with them, but gets a little nervous with the really hyper, in your face dogs. Ryder shows you he loves you by giving you tons of kisses and wagging that forever wagging tail. No electronic fences please....puppies that are unsure of them selves do not do well with these fences. We don't believe that a condo or apartment will be a good housing fit for Ryder as we believe Ryder will likely be a large dog, and he can be a barker, and being that he is very active, putting him in a condo or apartment would not be fair to him. If you don't have a fenced in yard and another dog for him to run around with, you should be an active person, runner, walker, as he is a puppy and he is a shepherd so that energy will need to be burned off. If you are gone all day, Ryder isn't the pup for you. Keep him crated all day is not good for a puppy either.

Ryder came from a high kill shelter in Joplin, MO. Looking at his adorable face and seeing his personality, it's hard to imagine how such a wonderful dog could end up alone and unwanted on death row. Lucky for him, we saw his face, knew his loving potential and saved him so he could meet a wonderful family deserving of his love. He would be the perfect pet to add to any family - with or without children. No children under the age of 7 if you are not an experienced dog owner. Ryder loves the children, but he is a puppy with sharp teath that could frustrate young, inexperienced children so no young children. We don't know about kitties as the foster mom has none.

PLEASE NOT THAT BREED, AGE, AND SIZE AT MATURITY ARE ONLY GUESSES
