Sophie's Story...
Sophie was a neighborhood stray that was lucky a caring person saw her and was feeding her. It was thought that she was pregnant so her rescuer contacted Animal Lifeline and we brought her to the shelter. A quick ultra sound showed that she was not pregnant, so she was spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is a very friendly cat that deserves a home where she will always have food and a warm bed. Sophie was born in February 2011 and still has lots of kitten in her.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a Des Moines American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Des Moines, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Des Moines.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Des Moines already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Des Moines breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Des Moines paves the way for another one to be saved.
