My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Riley (formerly Rocky). He is a year and a half old Border Collie mixed with? Poor guy had a rough start; his owners left his collar on and as he grew it embedded into his neck. He had surgery to remove it and now he looks brand new. He lives with our three dogs and does well with all but our scrappy Scottie. Riley really likes doggy friends, but does not do well with reactive dogs. He also lives with three very dog-savvy kitties and does well with them. Sadly, Riley still has some emotional scars from his past. Riley is not the best in stressful social situations: he cannot handle a lot of new people, new dogs or other new stimuli. We are working on improving his behavior, but he will likely need some form of management in his new home. This means, no dog parks, festivals, or family parties for Riley. He needs a predictable life where he spends most of his time with the same people doing routine things. Of course, his family can still do fun things like have parties, but Riley would need a safe place (like his crate in a spare bedroom) to chew a bully stick and stay out of the commotion. He also would do best with a yard where he cannot see neighbors (stockade fence, large property, etc).

The best of Riley is that he is a 'buddy dog.' He just loves his people and wiggles and wags like crazy. He is very sweet and loves to have his tummy rubbed. Riley is a special dog who needs a family who is understanding and who will help him be the best dog he can be. He will make all the effort worth while by giving his family unending puppy love.

Riley would do best in a home without young children.
