My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Onyx is a 10 month old, purebred labrador pup who lost his home when his family moved. He spent up to 16 hours a day in a crate and now that he has the freedom of five fenced acres and some canine playmates he's in heaven!!!! Onxy weighs 55 pounds full grown so he is a smaller lab. He is from hunting stock. Due to his background, Onxy cannot be kenneled in the future except for short periods, so he is looking for a family who is home much of the time. He is great with kids, just loves playing with other dogs and would probably try to play with cats so that's not a good idea. When he needs "down" time he will even go in his kennel on his own. He opens it with his paw. He is smart and super friendly. Onxy is house trained and kennel trained for short periods. He must have a fenced yard and it would be best if he had another playful canine companion. Onxy is with a 501c3 rescue. His adoption fee is $300. He is neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention, up to date on shots and worming and has a HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
