Meet a true southern gentleman. Lorenzo is a 5 year old kitty rescued from a high kill shelter down in Georgia. This boy put on his best suit (black and white tuxedo) to move up north and find his destiny, to find his FUREVER home, to find you. As sweet and loving and PURRRfect as Lorenzo is, he did not have much of a chance to survive down south and so Fancy Cats Rescue Team offered up a second chance. He came from the streets but has a sweet nature to both people and other cats, He is a lover not a fighter. He would much rather snuggle and play and cuddle and enjoy being loved and lavished on. Lorenzo is a solid 15 lbs of muscle with a sleek short black coat. Although he is 5 years young his hair has wisps of white around his head and neck, giving that distinguished older gentleman look. Although from the streets, he does enjoy his current diet of Blue Buffalo Wilderness (any flavors) canned food and eats around 2 - 3 (3 oz) cans a day. He also really likes his treats of The Good Life (chicken flavor). He really enjoys his interactive play sessions with Da Bird and the Niko Fly. He also loves chasing around his furry toy mice. He really likes being slowly gently brushed and even likes being wiped down with hypoallergenic unscented baby wipes making sure every part of him is nice and clean. During cuddle session you will often see this look of total bliss come over him as he slowly sloses his eyes and enjoys just the simple touch of your hand going gently over his face. He has the cutest chipmunk cheeks, it looks as if he is carrying golf balls in his mouth. Lorenzo is still a little unsure about the big noisy box that shows moving pictures (TVs) and we believe he may not have been around them much in his life. He does want attention and love and longs to be by your side. Lorenzo was so sweet and loving in Georgia that even the AC manager was begging for him to be saved by someone. This boy deserves a better life than what he was given and he is waiting for you to take him home.
Lorenzo is a sweet loving boy. Maybe not exactly a lap cat, he has his own unique talents. He actually will walk on a leash. He will make a made dash to the kitchen if he hears you in it. He LOVES his Wild West Party Mix treats (maybe a little too much). He has a quirky way that when something scares him he will charge toward it and make a quick stand by puffing out his chest and will then quickly run behind me. When he sees me come in to clean the litter box he also feels he must jump in either before I do or while I am trying to clean it and then proceeds to use it. He is very protective of his family and to me. Plus, to his friend Velvet he is not only a rescued cat but a cat rescuer, protecting him and grooming him and making him comfortable. He does amaze us everyday.
Although they have not been around a lot of children when they go to adoption fairs Velvets begs for them to come and give them love and to spend time with him. Lorenzo is okay but would prefer he wasn't at the fair at all and would much rather be in your home. Neither of them has scratched anything except their cat scratchers (not once) and both may not enjoy it will be very still and accept their nail trimming quiet well. They both also seem to not mind dogs either. They can be a little nervous in a new place for about 10 days but will adjust and ask to be and get love. They both enjoy playing with their interactive toy Da Bird and love to play with the laser light. Both are very low maintenance and you get the best of both worlds with their yin and yang purrrrsonalities. Velvet the complete lap cat and Lorenzo the regal 'aloof' kitty but ever vigilant and loyal kitty. Do you have room in your heart for these two?

Rescue Group Info...
Fancy Cats Rescue Team was founded to provide the community a "safety net" for cats and kittens that are abused and abandoned, or added to the euthanasia list at the shelters that we are currently participating with. We are a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Organization and participate with the United Way/CFC #8929. The goal is to have no kill shelters in place. Education and responsible pet ownership are the foundation of our organization. Our program provides literature, counseling, referral services and educational resources to families and individuals needing guidance. Teaching people responsible pet guardianship by spay and neutering their pets, behavioral modification and health concerns. We also provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers where they can learn the rewards of community service while caring for animals that need their gentle, loving kindness. They also interact with the community providing self-confidence and the ability to interact with a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. Once an animal is received into our program, they remain with us until a safe, appropriate home is found. They are never euthanized based on their age or space limitations. They are given appropriate medical care, immunizations, spays or neuters and endless hours of tender, loving care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by community donations, 91% goes toward the care and well being of our animals. Our adoption fees help offset our veterinary bills.
Our adoptions are held at the Fair Lakes PETsMART in Fairfax Virginia, at the Chantilly PetsMART, at the Gainesville PetsMART, and at the Springfield PetsMART
Check our website for upcoming adoptions. www.fancycats.org
Our adopters fill out an application that screens for problems that may be detrimental to our cats and kittens. Once the adopter is approved we provide veterinary referrals which help with low cost spays or neuters for the kittens that are too young at the time of adoption. We are always available to help with behavioral issues that arise. We provide numerous information sheets in our adoption folders, plus the medical background of each cat. The only fees involved with our program are adoption fees that offset our veterinary bills.
