Watson's Information:

February 20, 2011: With a lot of help from the wonderful folks at Schnauzer Love Rescue, Watson was pulled from a Florida shelter within a day or two of being euthanized and made a three-day trip to New York, charming everybody he met along the way! Watson is a very friendly and sweet-tempered (and very handsome!) silver mini schnauzer, who only wants to be cuddled and hugged and to have a home of his very own. Watson’s favorite place to be is cuddling in a lap, and when he’s happy (like in your lap), he makes little purring noises!
Watson’s history is unknown, and he is not quite housebroken yet, although he’s making a lot of progress. Watson does wear a belly band when I’m not home, and about half of the time, his belly band is dry. He sleeps wonderfully through the night, with a quiet and gentle snore that is comforting to hear. He does very well with the other dogs in my home (all about his size), and does well with the cats, too. I have one cat who likes to bop him on the head when he walks by, and Watson will turn, bark, and bow to try to play (but never chase). He ignores the other cats because they ignore him.

Watson walks very well on a leash, and he loves his walks! He twirls in tiny circles when he’s excited, his own version of the happy dance, and he always twirls when he hears the sound of his leash or when I come home. He can also hear the crinkle of a wrapper from the other side of the house, and will bound over to the kitchen in hopes of getting a treat. He loves squeaky toys, and has a favorite toy that he’ll play with, chewing it and batting it around, twirling and rumbling with delight! Watson is working on learning how to go up steps and is making good progress. He cannot yet go down.

Watson is overweight and does have some skin issues. He’s also missing some fur on his back. This is likely caused by his hypothyroidism (low thyroid levels). Watson began thyroid medication Monday, February 13th, and will have blood work done in a month to determine whether the dosage is correct.

Watson is a wonderful and happy boy who will be a delightful addition to any home. He will return your love a million times over!
