I want a family of my own to love!
Charlene is a female grey tabby domestic short hair with white mittens, born April 30th 2004.
Charlene was abandoned at or near a managed colony of feral cats, and was noticed by the caretaker. Charlene didn't know how to hunt or care for herself outside, and she didn't get along with the other cats. She wasn't feral at all though - she came right over to the caretaker and started to purr! Knowing she would be unable to live in the feral colony, the caretaker arranged for Charlene to come to Kitty Corner to find a home.
Charlene is a very relaxed, laid back, mellow adult cat with no health or behavior problems.
Charlene LOVES people, and she is friendly right from the start. Her coat is very soft and plush, and she enjoys being petted and snuggled. She's a super companion who is affectionate without being pushy. How or why someone could abandon her, we'll never understand.
Charlene tolerates other cats, but she would prefer not to be around them. She tends to over-react aggressively to other cats, even if they are simply walking past her.
Charlene also does not like other cats being near 'her person'. If you are cuddling or petting Charlene and another cat comes too close, she will try to drive the other cat off to get the attention for himself. Because of her need for attention and lack of willingness to share, we feel Charlene needs to go to a home where she will be the only feline family member.
Because Charlene does not like living with so many other cats, she may or may not come right over to a new adopter. This is due to her being housed in a cat room where she has to 'get along' with other cats, and there is nowhere to go to avoid the other cats. If Charlene doesn't come right over to a new person, it doesn't mean that she's not a people cat - it most likely means she is feeling intimidated and not wanting to face off with the other cats at that time. Once a new person approaches Charlene and starts showing her attention and petting her, she's not likely to want to let them go. :)
Charlene has already lost one human family through no fault of her own. Charlene has so much love to give, and she just needs a family to share it with. Is there room in your family for this lovely young lady? Please, call us to come and meet Charlene!
Call Kitty Corner at 315-457-4420 or fill out our adoption application at www.kittycorner.org to meet our adoptable cats and adopt a new member of your family.

Rescue Group Info...
At Kitty Corner, we are NOT a shelter. We are "cat rescuers" -- volunteers who live with the rescued cats in our own homes. We provide shelter, veterinary care and a chance for a new life in a loving home for cats who have been abandoned or who never had a home at all due to the overwhelming number of homeless pets.
We are all volunteers and 100% of every donation is used for the care of the cats.
When a cat first comes to us, they are briefly caged and isolated until they see our vet. They are checked for parasites and diseases. We provide vaccinations and any other veterinary care they may need. We also spay or neuter any cat who is old enough.
The healthy, altered cats are then evaluated for personality and placed in one of our four "cat rooms". When necessary, we work to overcome behavior or emotional problems so that the cat will be a happy, adoptable pet.
We try to match each cat with the person or family for whom it is best suited. The happiness of the cat and its new "people" is our first priority. In the last few years, we have taken in hundreds of cats and placed almost all of them in caring, responsible homes.
Kitty Corner is firmly committed to the idea that once a cat comes to us, it will never be homeless again. We have a life-long "cat back" guarantee. If an adoption doesn't work out at any time, for any reason, we ask that you to return the cat to us.
If you see a particular pet listed that you might like to meet, please call or e-mail and we'll tell you all about him or her.
If you are just looking to meet our cats available and see if one "clicks" with you, that's fine too!
Once you've completed the adoption application, either online or by phone, we'll invite you to meet our kitties. All of our adoptable cats are housed in the same location, so you will be able to meet everyone in one visit. We are located in Liverpool, NY.
Whether you have already found a cat or kitten you like in our adoptive listings, or if you just want to come and meet all our cats available for adoption, the first step is the application.
The first step to adopting is the adoption application. Our adoption application can be done over the phone 315-457-4420 or online at our website http://www.kittycorner.org under the "adopt" link; or here's a direct link http://www.kittycorner.org/pages/adoptapp.php
We request an adoption donation for our cats and kittens, which helps us to offset a little of our veterinary costs.
All cats, even the kittens, must be sterilized before going to new homes. We believe strongly in pediatric spay-neuter, a practice that can be used with kittens as young as eight weeks.
Kitty Corner of CNY rescues and adopts our cats to all of Onondaga County, New York State. We will also consider out of the area (including out of state) adoptions on a case-by-case basis.
