Unicorn's Story...
Unicorn is an adorable 3-4 year old rescued from a puppy mill. We were told she was a Coton de Tulear but she looks more like a mini poodle to us, about 12 pounds full grown. She gets very playful and puppyish around other dogs, but like many puppy mill rescues is skittish and shy with people. She is looking for a patient adult home with at least one other dog to help her feel more comfortable. Please submit an application if you are interested.

February 25th, 2012- Our good friends at No More Tears and Anarchy Animal Rescues freed 50 dogs from Amish puppy mills this weekend! We took in 14 of these special little dogs and are looking forward to finding them the loving homes they deserve after the horrible lives they have had. Puppy mill rescues are generally a little shy but sweet-natured, and thrive in calmer adult households with other friendly dogs to help them feel more comfortable. Please submit an application if you are interested. They will be spayed and fully vetted prior to adoption.

These puppy mill rescues put a huge strain on our budget- most of these dogs have been severely neglected and need dental care, treatment for ear infections and/or skin infections, and sometimes further treatment for tumors, hernia, or other more serious ailments. Even if you can't adopt or foster, please continue donating so we can continue to rehabilitate these especially needy dogs.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Unicorn, a Oak Ridge Coton de Tulear/Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coton de Tulear/Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) for sale in Oak Ridge, or seeking a Coton de Tulear/Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) dog from a breeder in Oak Ridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Ridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Ridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coton de Tulear/Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) breeders who help with Coton de Tulear/Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Ridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
