Meet Rae, a 10 lb sweetie. What she lacks in size, she makes up with her trusting spirit and huge heart.

When Rae first arrived at her foster home she was very timid and shy. However, it did not take long for her to realize that humans can be kind, and that a dog's life can be full of love and fun. She follows her foster mom everywhere, and when she isn't napping at her feet she will sleep quietly in her crate. Rae is a bit cautious with men and strangers, but is slowly learning to trust them as well, as the quickest way to her heart is through a treat (and she is not picky when it comes to food) or a good belly rub!

Her foster family is enjoying watching Rae try many things for the first time--chasing a tennis ball, sleeping in the sun, and walking on a leash, which she does like a pro. Rae still needs some work with housetraining, but she is catching on. She has been learning much from her foster canine brother--an 80 lb lab, whom she watches and imitates. She has not spent much time with smaller children or cats.

Rae's foster family has fallen in love in such a short time, and are sure that a forever family will love her as well. Rae will return that love ten fold and win you over with her adorable big brown eyes! Rae is trying to start life all over again, and just needs a family to help her on her journey.

Rawhide Rescue opens its arms to many dogs who are from puppy mills, or large breeding facilities, where dogs are bred for profit and not love. These dogs are routinely killed after their breeding days are over, usually at about age five, but we have been able to rescue dogs from some facilities.

Puppy mill dogs are a special rescue, as they have spent the majority of their lives in cages, and have not been properly socialized around humans. Each dog's rehabilitation varies widely, but problems with housebreaking, timidity and poor health are common. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please follow this link to find out more about what the special challenges and rewards are in adopting a puppy mill rescue.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rae, a Warren Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Warren, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Warren.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Warren already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Warren breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Warren paves the way for another one to be saved.
