My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HERSHEY.SAD STORY ALERT. Sunday, ODR, Inc. received an urgent phone call from a family member concerning a Doxie involved in a domestic violence case. The husband had a gun and was going to shoot the wife's Doxie if we did not come get him within the hour. A typical Doxie, Hershey has strong prey drive, was on a farm with no fencing and killed a chicken, which set the husband off. When I got him to the rescue, I bathed him, cleaned the mites from his ears and clipped his excessively long nails. I became very concerned when every time I tried to kiss him or rub his ears near the jawline, he cried in pain. I took him to the vet asap and to my surprise, he had broken and loose teeth and a badly bruised mouth. The vet said he'd been kicked many times in the mouth by someone wearing steel toed boots. Most of his teeth had to be pulled and he's now on antibiotics and will remain at the vet for another two days. His surgery bill exceeds $1000. Poor Hershey, he's a very sweet loving boy and did not deserve this. Please consider a donation to our Doxie vet for his surgery and care. Our vet's phone number is 503-543-6464 - anything helps. Thank you from Hershey and Jenell. ========More info about Hershey: Just 22 months old, a small tweenie (14.5 pounds), and sweet as they come. Couldn't ask for a more handsome boy. Loves people, and older kids OK. You will need a fenced doxie proof yard. This fellow has a strong prey drive, so NO cats, and certainly no chickens, birds, hamsters and such. Instead you'll have an AKC handsome muscular love of a dachshund! May need to be your one and only. Possibly could be placed with spayed female doxie, but a meet and greet would be needed to check out whether or not this could work. Are you ready to help this special guy recover and have the forever home he deserves?.=====The adoption fee is $295. The fees include spay/neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordetella, pyrantel, advantage treatment, grooming including nails, as well as complete exam at our doxie vet. Each dog comes with all new doxie halter, new toys and blankets. All in all, an investment greater than the adoption fee. Please go to www.odr-inc.org. We have very strict adoption guidelines because we require an escape proof fenced yard and someone who is home most of the day. Kids over 10 are ok, but no cats less they've been raised with them, or other small prey animals (these are hunters). If our requirements sound like a good fit, please complete the questionnaire and email it to jrangan@teleport.com. ====== Please wait to call until we have your information. We're busy trying to find the best homes for all the wonderful dachshunds we have. The best way to get an answer is by email. We make every effort to respond within 24 hours.
