Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Here's a big sweetheart for you!
Tonka is wonderful with dogs and every person he has met. He is about 2 years old and quite tall at 26 inches. He's a pure English Pointer. He weighs 65 pounds. Tonka is EXTREMELY sweet and cuddly and well behaved inside the house. He has a good amount of playful energy too. His temperament is pure gold. He is completely housetrained and a crate is not ever needed. Good thing, because he hates the crate.
Tonka was emaciated when found in a very rural area. :o( We think he was bred and maybe trained to hunt birds. He loves running loose in an enclosed field...pointing and sniffing and lunging at birds. We are working on his leash manners, but he still pulls way too much. He's getting better though. He pulls to sniff, he wants to be hunting I think. He will need a fenced yard so he can enjoy some funning and sniffing and playing with other dogs. When he's off leash he runs off pointing at birds, but he does come running back all happy - after he's done 'sniffing' and hunting.
Tonka LOVES playing with other dogs. Tonka grabs a rope toy or stuffed animal and the other dogs chase him around the back yard. They will also lay on the floor and wrestle and play with each other. Tonka is a great companion for another dog. He's been with many different dogs and we've only found one persistant alpha male terrier that he didn't get along with.
Tonka is so wonderful...so very loving and so awesome. He is quiet in the house, has never had a potty accident, and almost never barks...he doesn't even bark at the neighbors dogs on the other side of the fence. He does need plenty of daily exercise - preferably off leash in an enclosed area...prey instincts are stong in this boy.
He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines including bordatella, and he is heartworm negative and on preventative. He's all ready for love and fun.
If you want to talk to his foster mom, please email her at suzanne.newcomb@ae.ge.com.
