I am already spayed and housetrained.
Simba is a beautiful girl with unique and stunning yellow-orange eyes as well as extra long white whiskers. She is quite shy but if you approach her calmly and quietly she will grant you the chance to show her some affection. Simba is not used to being handled so she is fearful of it. She takes a while to adjust to changes and will need a home with patient and experienced cat parents. Simba seems to get along fine with other cats and loves to play with feather toys. She has a very playful nature and it really helps to build her confidence and bring her out of her shell. Simba was born into the shelter setting and has never had a family of her own. She has been with FAR since March of 2010. Because of dental issues, all of her teeth have been removed with the exception of her canines.

Rescue Group Info...
Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) is a non-profit, volunteer organization established in 1995. Foothills Animal Rescue is committed to compassionate and humane treatment of dogs and cats in need through rescue, shelter, fostering and adoption within Maricopa County.
We operate as a no-kill organization, fostering displaced animals in the homes of dedicated volunteers until owners are located or suitable new homes are found. Medical care, spay and neuter surgery, basic immunizations, micro-chipping, and TLC are part of the total care package provided for each companion animal in our care. We also do some basic temperament testing and personality assessment so that potential adopters can be provided with a better total picture of each animal offered for adoption.
We recently purchased our first facility and Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) is a non-profit, volunteer organization established in 1995. We recently purchased our first facility and will be open June 2010. When completed, the facility will house over 100 animals. This includes:
• 3 cat living rooms, one for FeLV positive cats
• 6 dog suites, one activity room and one socialization room
• A reception area and retail store
• An intake facility for new arrivals with isolation rooms for sick animals.
Our Resale Boutique is our primary source of income. Amazing treasures ranging from clothing to housewares are found here and all monies go to support the animals.
Our main objectives this year were created at FAR’s yearly Strategic Planning session and include:
• Doubling adoptions at our facility
• Creating a full operating manual and training all staff and volunteers in the new policies
• Diversifying and increasing our Board of Directors
• Increase public relations and marketing, especially in light of our new facility and support in communities we have typically not reach out to
• Increasing the number of fosters and volunteers
• Increasing bequests, individual donors, corporate relationships
• Increasing collaborations within the community
Adoptions are held:
Petsmart Mayo - 7077 E. Mayo Blvd.
Saturdays and Sundays (excluding holidays) 11am - 4pm
Petsmart - Desert Ridge Marketplace
Every second and fourth Saturday 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
At 23030 North Pima Road in our cage free facility:
Closed Monday
Tuesday - Saturday 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
All animals offered for adoption by FAR have been given medical attention and are in good health.
Dogs are vaccinated, neutered or spayed, microchipped and given any medical care needed. Adoption fees are used to directly save more animals. The adoption fee for one dog up to 6 years old is $225 ; 6-9 years $175 for one, $150 for special needs.
Cats are vaccinated, tested for FeLV/FIV, spayed or neutered, microchipped and given any medial care needed. The adoption fee for one cat over one year of age is $35, kittens are $75. Our FELV + cats are free (with the hopes of a donation to Foothills).
