My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Josie and until just a few weeks ago, I had been living off the land. For about 6 months, the animal control officer had been trying to catch me and I really wanted to come to her but would get just so close before I would get nervous and run away again. She would leave food for me and I learned to hunt and find my own food to fill the times between. I sure wish I could tell her what happened that day she found me and brought me in but I was sure glad she came along that day. I knew she would. She had come looking for me almost every day for months. That day, my hip and back hurt and I was very weak. She was so surprised when she was able to walk right up to me and gently put the lead around my neck. She was so excited until she saw the blood and the hole in my hip where I had been shot. She rushed me to her truck and immediately gave me medicine to keep me calm and help the pain while she searched for the number for NASPR. Being a small town animal control, they had no on site vet to give me the emergency care I needed. Thankfully, NASPR was there to help and soon volunteers were on their way to pick me up and rush me to the emergency clinic. It was after hours and I needed immediate care so NASPR put out a plea to their Shar-Pei friends and they made it possible for me to get the care I needed. I have so many people to thank for saving my life. Thankfully there was no organ damage and after weeks of care, the wound from the broad head arrow has healed. I’ve come to love everyone and I don’t ever want to be on my own again. I want to be by your side and make up for lost time. I am about 3 years old and a petite girl at @ 35 lbs. My heartworm treatment will be completed soon and would love to have a family waiting to welcome me home.
