Nikita was found abandoned in a pet carrier. This poor little girl was cold and scared. She also had a very bad cold. She has been staying in a foster home and has recovered from her cold and is now spayed and is now ready for a purrmanent home. She is a young adult. We have given her an estimated birthday of August 1st, 2011. She has beautiful medium to long hair and is a gorgeous silver-gray. She is shy at first but comes around pretty quickly. You should allow at least two weeks but then she comes to you and LOVES to be petted. She gets very excited over her daily treat of canned food and she absolutely loves other kitties. Nikita is great in her foster home but is very frightened at the adoption center so we prefer that you visit with her in the foster home. You can visit our adoptable cats and kittens on Saturdays from noon-five at our adoption center, which is located at Mariposa Veterinary Wellness Center, 13900 Santa Fe Trail Drive in Lenexa. Not every animal attends every Saturday so always call or e-mail ahead to confirm that a particular animal will be present. You can download an application and read about our adoption process on our website at www.KittyCityKS.com Kitty City Kansas Rescue is a 501 c3 non-profit, all volunteer - no kill organization. All of our animals stay in licensed foster homes during the week. You can visit our adoptable animals during the week in our foster homes or visit them on Saturdays at Mariposa Vet Clinic in Lenexa. If you wish to visit them in a foster home we ask that you fill out an application first. We also recommend that prior to coming to our adoption center on Saturdays that you complete an application so you can get pre-approved.....who knows, you might meet your purrfect match and want to take them home that day. We specialize in cats and kittens. The majority of our animals come from other shelters that do not have the capability or the room to take care of very small animals that are too young/small to adopt. We then take them into our homes, make sure they are healthy and once they are big enough to be adopted we find homes for them. We can safely spay or neuter kittens once they weigh two pounds which happens around 8-10 weeks of age.
You can visit our adoptable animals on Saturdays from noon-5 at Mariposa Vet Clinic in Lenexa Kansas. Mariposa Vet Clinic is located at 13900 Sante Fe Trail Drive in Lenexa. Mariposa Vet Clinic is a state of the art Veterinary clinic. The building itself is very special.....it is a green/environmentally friendly building. They offer traditional and holistic services including chiropractic care.

Once you have a pre-approved application you can enter our adoption center on Saturday at 11:45, 15 minutes prior to our normal opening of noon. Our adoption fee's range from $50. up to $150.00. An application and a legal contract are required at adoption. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The adoption fee includes the spay or neuter. Everyone is current on vaccinations, treated for fleas and worms & tested for feline leukemia plus they will receive a free well exam at one of our participating vets
