Gilroy's Story...
If I had thumbs, I’d be twittling them. I mean talk about a snooze fest…waiting for a new home is Boooring. Sure, hanging out with other dogs all day is fine but what I really want is a family to hang out with. In fact, what would be really awesome is a Shepherd savvy person, who understands that a sensitive boy like me needs patience, stability and structure so that I can feel confident and secure. I won’t mind sharing my home with other dogs or cats, but I’ll prefer a calmer environment without real young children. See, strangers can make me a bit nervous…and I want to find a home where I can feel safe, then you’ll see what a smart, loyal and goofy guy I really am…. 5 years old-84lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; neuter, microchip, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, reduced cost training class, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gilroy, a Portland German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Portland, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
