HILO's Story...
This is our little cuddle bug we call Hilo. He is a doll! He arrived on 3-10-12 weighing in at 14 pounds. He is approx. 11 to 12 weeks old. He is currently getting settled into his foster home. He is fostered with another dog. Hilo is doing great. Right now he is definitely more comfortable in the house, but his friendliness towards others is universal. He is eating well and listening when I correct him. It has only been one day, but we already love this boy. UPDATE: Hilo absolutely loves people. We go out and meet new people each day. He does much better with the new noises too! He loves everyone including kids! He also gets along well with dogs of all sizes. This is one wonderful pup. UPDATE: Hilo is doing stupendously well. He is walking on the leash and we have even taken long walks where there is a lot of noises and he handled like a pro. He absolutely loves people and approaches pretty much everyone with kisses and makes them fall in love with him. His just loves children! He has been around babies and kids of all ages and just loves them. Hilo gets along well with dogs of all sizes, but right now prefers to run around with dogs closer to his own size. He is eating well and sleeps through the night in his crate. Hilo is doing great with his potty training and will go to the bathroom outside or use the wee-wee pad should I not get him out in time. He holds his urine the entire night and waits until we get outside to use the bathroom. He is also doing great with his commands. He knows sit and is really good about responding to his name. Hilo is energetic and loves to play, but will also be independent and entertain himself with toys provided. He also loves to cuddle and gives kisses. UPDATE: Hilo is continuing to win the heart of everyone he meets. He is charming, loves to give kisses to both people and dogs. He will sit on command, or of course if he thinks you might give him a treat. He is walking stupendously on a leash and no longer seems to get frightened by the loud noises. He just takes it all in stride. His house training is coming along well, he uses the bathroom outside. If he cannot hold it, and I have not taken him out in time, we will use the wee-wee pad. He is also able to hold his bladder for an extended period of time. Hilo has been sleeping through the night and wakes up when i get up with his tail wagging and kisses ready to be given. He absolutely loves to play with children and other dogs and is getting more and more confident playing with larger dogs. You will be very lucky to have Hilo as your forever furry friend! Each pup has had their first vet exam, a shot, and de-worming, etc We make sure they have no fleas prior to going into our foster homes. They are fostered out of the shelter at least two weeks or more prior to adopting to monitor health. We take their care seriously!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

HILO, a West Milford Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in West Milford, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in West Milford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Milford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Milford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Milford paves the way for another one to be saved.
