Riley's Story...
Riley was picked up as a stray in a small CA town and never claimed. With no adoption prospects in sight, he made his way to rescue.

Riley is a wonderful doxie. He is friendly with people, although he is shy with new men. Riley loves to play with other doxies. He is being fostered with a one year old male (a former SCDR dog) and the two of them are having a blast playing and wrestling. Riley also loves his squeakies, playing ball and engaging in a good game of tug of war.

As a young dog, Riley currently has two speeds – on or off. When he is exhausted, he can be found sunbathing in the yard or curled up in a dog bed with all the other doxies.

Riley really would like a young canine playmate in his new home. He does not like to be left by himself for long periods of time. He will also need a home that gets him daily exercise. As a youngster, he would like to attend an obedience class (great socialization and a confidence builder)

Riley is neutered and current on his vaccinations. His teeth are blindingly white so he may be younger than we have estimated.

The tax deductible donation for Riley is $325.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a San Jose Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in San Jose, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in San Jose.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Jose already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Jose breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Jose paves the way for another one to be saved.
