found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
AGE: 4 years
SIZE: 18 pounds, 13" at the shoulder. She should lose a couple of pounds and her adopter will need to make sure to keep her at a healthy slender weight.
TEMPERAMENT: Peggy is sweet. friendly, and affectionate. She is reserved at first with new people, but she warms up quickly.
FENCE: A secure physical fence (vinyl, wood or chain link), with secure gates and with direct access from the house is required. Peggy is not used to a leash.
DOGS: Peggy gets along well with the other Shelties (male & female) in her foster home, and enjoys their company. Though she has always lived with other dogs, she may be okay as an only dog also, as long as her people have lots of time for her.
CATS: Peggy ignores the cat in her foster home.
KIDS: Peggy likes respectful children. A home with gentle children who are managed around animals (or no children) would be best. Very active or noisy children would be scary for Peggy.
CRATE TRAINED: Yes
HOUSE TRAINED: Yes
LEASH MANNERS: Peggy does not seem to be used to a leash.
TRAINING: Peggy has not had formal training. She's a smart Sheltie girl and will learn quickly. MNSR periodically offers basic obedience classes for Shelties.
CAR RIDES: Peggy rides well in a crate in the car.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate.
BARKING: Peggy does not bark a lot (for a Sheltie).
HEALTH ISSUES: Peggy's left front leg was amputated sometime prior to her coming into rescue, but this doesn't slow her down at all. She has no trouble walking, running, or climbing stairs.
Peggy is a sweet, affectionate little girl. She loves attention, but isn't pushy. She likes people of all sizes and gender once she gets to know them. She gets along well with other animals. She will be a wonderful addition to your family!
For more information on our adoption process (which includes an application, references and a home visit prior to meeting dogs) or to see other Shelties available for adoption, please visit our website at www.mnsheltierescue.org, or contact us for the adoption application. Peggy's adoption fee is $250.00, and she is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), is microchipped, has been bathed and brushed, etc. All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard, if the adopter is not at home).
Not ready to adopt, but you still would like to help a Sheltie in need? Sponsor a Sheltie! ***The Sheltie's bio explains the type of home that will best meet that Sheltie's needs, and indicates if a fence is required, and whether the Sheltie can be placed with children, dogs or cats. Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of the Shelties in our program, and that our priority is to meet the needs of the Shelties in our care.***
