My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Ace. I am a 7 month old Border Collie Mix (born July 2012) and everyone thinks I am very cute! My foster Mom says I am very smart and learn very fast. When I first went to live with her I knew nothing! Now I am learning house manners and am doing very well. Along with that she is teaching me basic obedience like how to sit, come when called and walk nicely on a leash. My Foster Mom says I am very sweet and love my human, but I need one of my own to love and one that will love me back.

Ace is a wonderful young dog. He is very easy to live with for still being a puppy. In the house Ace likes to play with toys and will self entertain chewing on a bone. For a Border Collie mix he is on the less active side and will make a great pet. He is smart, loves to learn and I feel that he would excel at Rally obedience. He is not a high drive dog but would still be able to keep up with an active home, but could also live well with a quieter home that likes to take a leasurely stroll.

Ace is one smart pup. In the 4 weeks that I have had him he has gone from a dog that knew absolutely nothing to a dog that has wonderful leash manners and enjoys walks. He can be walked in all environments and does not have any issues walking on a busy road. Ace knows basic commands such as sit, down and wait. He is learning self control and must sit, wait and give eye contact in order to be released to go outside or allowed to eat. Ace is eager to please his person and you can tell when he understands what you want as he has wonderful expressions.

Ace currently lives with 3 other dogs, one Lab and 2 Mini Aussies. He really enjoys his foster siblings and I feel that he would like to have another dog to live with especially one that will play with him. That being said the only fault that Ace has that I am working on is some reactivity to strange/new dogs. He is super smart and I think this will be something that I will be able to get him over as I am active in dog sports and he will be going with me to events to work on this issue.

If interested in dog sports, I think that Ace would do very well in Rally obedience as he has a high desire to please. He has not shown any interest in frisbees but does like chasing balls and we are working on bring it back so that it can be thrown again.

Ace has had a little exposure to children in the neighborhood and very much enjoyed meeting them and giving them a bath (kisses). Though he seemed to really like children I think he would do best in a home with older children as he does still occasionally grab for my hands in play, or if there is something in them.
