Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Isaac and his brother Isaiah came to the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad as strays. The two puppies were found starving and spent two days at a veterinary clinic getting fluids and nutrition when they were first rescued. Their health has rebounded quickly and they are healthy, happy puppies now. They appear to be Italian Greyhound and/or Rat Terrier mixes and we are estimating their birthday at Oct. 15, 2011. They are well-behaved puppies who get along well with other dogs and are OK with cats. They love people and love to attention. They are crate trained and are working on house training. The puppies have had three vaccinations for parvo, distemper, hepatitis and parainfluenza. They have also had their kennel cough vaccination, rabies vaccination, been neutered, de-wormed and started on heart worm prevention. We expect they'll be small to medium-sized dogs when full-grown, probably about 20 pounds. They are adorable, playful and entertaining. Are you the person Isaiah has been waiting for?
PLEASE you must click the following link in order to read about our process and to apply for this dog: http://members.petfinder.org/~TN564/IntroductionD.htm
Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application. Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the puppy and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
Dogs and puppies are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and heartworm negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your dog or puppy at the time of adoption.
The adoption fee is $425 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our dogs and puppies are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the dog or puppy leaves rescue.
All of our dogs and puppies come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a dog or puppy from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the dog or puppy that you welcome into your family.
Our dogs and puppies are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the dog or puppy before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the dog. We have had several hundred dogs adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy puppies and happy people.
If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the dog and the adopting family.
We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a dog and make the animal a part of their family. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right dog for your family!
