Berkley's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Berkley's Story...
Berkley is a SWEET 10-12 year old Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix. He came to us from a high-kill pound in NW IN after he was found as a stray. When Berkley came to us, he was so matted that nobody knew his breed. When our vet groomed him, his hair weighed almost 2lbs.

Berkley is a great boy who does not mind other dogs or cats. He loves children, but his new adopter should watch small kids so they don't trip over him and fall on him. Berkley requires a soft dog food diet as he has no teeth left. He also has "Dry Eye" which is where the tear ducts do not produce enough tears. He needs drops put in his eyes twice daily for the remainder of his life. Berkley is also hard of hearing, but not completely deaf. He walks on the slow side, but does not snooze all day! He is a comedian and a lover - the perfect dog for an elderly couple!!

Berkley is up to date on vaccines, dewormed, neutered, heartworm tested negative, and microchipped.

If you are interested in Berkley, please contact our Canine Adoption Coordinator, at dogadoptions@rornfp.org for more info.

Please note, we do not have a building, so there are no "viewing hours". Please email for an application as our volunteers may not be able to return your call promptly. Thank you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Berkley, a Oak Lawn Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu for sale in Oak Lawn, or seeking a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Oak Lawn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Lawn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Lawn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Lawn paves the way for another one to be saved.
