Shea came to NBCR from a shelter with his brother Philib. We will be adopting each dog individually. Shea is a really nice dog. He is well adjusted and gets along great with people. He loves to meet new people too. Shea could use a little training, but is easy to be around. He does sometimes get excited and jump up, but responds well to corrections. Shea gets along great with other dogs. He has a more submissive personality with his brother Philib, so he may continue to be more submissive OR he may become more dominant in a new home. Shea has not been introduced to cats.

Shea LOVES to play ball! He is very intensely focused on the tennis ball, but also calm at the same time (what a nice combination!). Shea knows that to play fetch he needs to bring the ball back - and he will bring it right back and place it at your feet! Shea is a very nice dog who would do well in an active home.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
NBCR is run by a small group of animal-loving volunteers, all of whom help in BIG ways... we foster, train, socialize, transport, visit shelters, provide veterinary care, educate the public on responsible dog ownership and the characteristics and needs of Border Collies, take pictures to keep website updated, make phone calls, do home visits, etc. NBCR works hard to place adoptable dogs into appropriate forever homes, making the best match possible between the dog and the adopter(s). All border collies in our care receive full veterinary care, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative. We groom each dog, begin initial obedience training, provide herding tests for some dogs, evaluate for activity level & temperments, socialize and provide a loving environment to nuture their needs.
Nebraska Border Collie Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to serving the immediate needs of Border Collies and Border Collie mixes in danger of harm or euthanasia, as well as educating the public to reduce the need for rescue in the future.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shea, a Bellevue Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Bellevue, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Bellevue.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bellevue already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bellevue breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bellevue paves the way for another one to be saved.
