My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We thought we were rescuing a 5 year old, unspayed, female that was being surrendered because her people, who had only had Libby a few months, couldn’t afford to keep her. What we found was 12+ year old Libby. We had asked in advance about her teeth and were told they were fine. This might be true wherever they are, because they are no longer in her mouth. Sweet Libby came to us toothless. The one part of the story that was clearly true was that the young couple could not afford to keep her.

Nine pound Libby is one feisty little old lady. She reads the other dogs the riot act if they bump her or push her aside. It’s hard to get a good outside photo of her because she is a perpetual-motion-machine when out in the yard. She keeps up on one mile walks. She is very friendly with people although will occasionally shriek in fear if grabbed too abruptly.

Someone in her past taught Libby to sit up and beg for treats. We discovered this when a worker at a pet store gave her a Snausage. Libby instantly started posing to get more.

Libby has no trouble eating dry dog food and she has a doxie appetite. She has very reluctantly agreed to sleep in a crate at night. She feels a lady of her years should be allowed to sleep in the big bed with her people. Libby would also like a retirement home that will appreciate a senior lady with an opinion and pep in her step. She would not object to being asked to cuddle in a lap most of the day.

Libby is healthy, spayed and fully vaccinated. If you have a soft spot in your heart for the seniors, Libby is ready, willing and able to fill that soft spot with a lot of dachshund love.

If you are interested in Libby, please fill out an adoption application at www.scdr.org and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

To adopt Libby, we ask only modest donation to SCDR.
