Tommy's Story...
Hi Everyone,

My name is Tommy and I am a handsome male Terrier Mix. No one knows what other breed I am mixed with. I am around 8-9 years old. My colors are brown and tan. I was found as a stray and I have to admit I was not a very good boy when I was first found. I was so very very scared. That is my only defense and it is the truth...you have to believe me. You see, I had been abandoned at a barn chained and left by my family who moved out of the country. They just didn't care about me anymore and didn't care if I lived or died. Well thanks to the neighbors, the realtor and some other concerned people, they did care about me. They got together and got me out of that terrible situation. I apparently had been there for a year, with neighbors and possibly a 4H group supplying me with food, water and straw for bedding. Well, thankfully that kept me alive but I so longed to have someone to love and play with me and be a forever family. So, back to me being so bad at the beginning. Remember, I was so scared. Well anyway, when the people came to rescue me, I was not being too friendly at first. They had to use a catch pole and I was so very very angry that they were doing this to me. Once they got me away from this space tho, I did warm up to one of the volunteers pretty quickly. But, I was still scared and angry so I was very possessive of my food and the people at the shelter had to take extra precautions when feeding me. I also would guard my toys, treats and rawhides by growling and barking at people at the gate.
As of now, 02/22/12, it seems that I am getting over my behavior problems since I am not scared and angry anymore. I now know how great these people at the shelter are and I feel very safe with them. I am hoping to get the chance to make someone an awesome companion again. I walk great on a leash and I do get along with other dogs and kids. Not sure how I am with cats. I haven't been around any lately. I keep my pen clean at the shelter and I go potty every time I am taken out for my walks.
I have been neutered and I'm up-to-date on my routine shots. Oh and I have been microchipped so that if we do get lost from each other it will be easier for us to reunite again:) I do have some arthritis in my back hips and the doctor says I should take Tramadol to relieve that discomfort. Other than that I really don't need a lot, just a person to love me and a lap to lay my head on. SOooooooo if you have room in your heart and home for such a great guy like me, contact the people at the shelter and they can arrange a time for us to meet!! I live in Youngwood, Pa. at the shelter so why don't you stop in and see me. I SO..... would love to have my
"VERY OWN FOREVER HOME AGAIN."
You can see some other adoptable pets almost every Saturday at the Petsmart in Greensburg from 12 to 6pm and some Sundays too. BUT please find me first? OK?
All adoption fees include neuter, chip and up-to-date vaccinations.
I HOPE to meet you really soon. Tommy!!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tommy, a Youngwood Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
