Facts about Jack

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Jack's favorite day involves hanging with his foster mom, but if she's not around, he will happily watch cat videos. (His favorites vary over time, FYI.) Jack's a mellow, low key guy, who would do well with a low key human or two. Our tabby boy sports a beautiful, silky coat.

About Chicago Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Chicago Cat Rescue is dedicated to helping animals in need and educating human companions. Chicago Cat Rescue is an all volunteer-run rescue group and we rely on compassionate individuals in our community to foster our rescued cats until they find their forever homes.

Chicago Cat Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Chicago Cat Rescue is unique in the fact that all of our animals available for adoption are currently living in foster homes. Foster homes make a great scenario for you to meet & mingle with your potential furry friend(s). A casual, home-like setting brings out the best in our animals for adoption and helps you get a true sense of the personality and characteristics of the animal in consideration. All of our foster homes provide a flexible schedule to accommodate appointments with potential adopters

Come Meet Our Pets...

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES! Because we are strictly foster home based, we are constantly in need of foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more cats and kittens we can save!

If you feel you can open your heart and your home to a cat (or cats), or kittens in need, please contact us!

Our Adoption Process...

Why adopt from a foster home based organization? Because our cats and kittens are being cared for in someone's home, we feel we truly know our animals. We rely on our foster families to tell us about the personalities of the cats in their care. Is the cat shy or outgoing? Playful or laid back? High energy or more sedentary? We learn so much about them! Armed with that knowledge, we feel we are uniquely able to help you find your soul kitty (or soul kittens!).

When you visit cats in a shelter, they generally come running to the front of the cage, rubbing and sticking their paws out at you. You think to yourself, "They're so people friendly and cuddly!". Oftentimes, once the cat/kitten is comfortable in your home, their "real" personality is not as you thought it was. When they are kept in cages, they are desperate for interaction, so they beckon you with their meows and paws. They get precious little human contact, and are longing to be out of the cage, so they are more clingy/cuddly in that environment than they will be once they are comfortable in their new home.

When you visit our cats and kittens, they are already in a home, so you get a better idea about their true personality, not the deperate actions of a bored and lonely cat, locked in a cage. You get to talk to the foster parent/s about the cat and learn so much more about what to expect.

Our adoption process. In an effort to find the best home for the cats and kittens in our care, and the best match for you and your family, we have a thorough adoption process. We are dedicated to the ideal of a "forever home" for our cats, so we do the best we can to try to make that happen. That means we don't do "same day adoptions". It's a process that we feel helps adopters find the right cats or kittens so they are, indeed, "forever homes".

Step 1. Call or email us to learn more about the cat you are interested in - we, of course, will have questions for you. Our conversations are a great way for us to get to know each other and ensure you will be a great match for the cat of interest (and that they will be a great match for you!).

Step 2. We will set up a convenient time for you to meet the cat of interest. All of our cats are in foster homes in Chicago - so you will be meeting with the foster mom/dad, a representative from Chicago Cat Rescue, as well as the lucky cat(s)!

Step 3. After the meeting, you will be asked to fill out an adoption application. A representative from Chicago Cat Rescue will process your application (usually within 2-3 business days), and if all goes well your new cat(s) will be ready to come home!

When you adopt from Chicago Cat Rescue, you not only gain the unconditional love of a cat(s), you also gain the perpetual support from a group of caring people who are committed to you and your new companion's health & happiness.

Our adoption fee is $125.00 for a single cat and $200.00 for a pair. All of our kitties have been combo-tested for FIV/Feline Leukemia, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for distemper, micro-chipped, and dewormed.
