Gwenna's Story...
Gwenna is a striking female, approximately three years old. Her brindle coat and long, sleek body give her an attractive physique that compliments her energetic, active personality. Gwenna has lived with another dog, outdoors in a fenced area. She gets along well with other dogs. She loves people and wants nothing more than to have a home where she can get lots of attention and loving care. For entertainment, Gwenna chases birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Gwenna is likely part German shepherd and part Basenjis, giving her a distinctive bark. She will make a good watchdog as she is fast to notice and respond to other animals and people. Gwenna is trainable and quick to pick up on a masters commands. She does pretty well on a leash, although she hasn't had lots of experience. Gwenna is healthy and solid. She will be easy to maintain, requiring minimal grooming with her short, tri-color brindle coat. All she needs is a loving home with outdoor room to exercise. About Our Rescue Group...
We are a certified 501(c)(3) organization consisting of volunteers who are devoted to saving shelter dogs that are in danger of euthanasia. Rural Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee shelters have a constant overflow of dogs, little funding, and limited space. Once the dogs arrive at the shelter, they have very little time. It is our goal to help save these adoptable dogs and adopt them out to loving families. Although our priorities are the retriever breeds, we are not limiting ourselves to retrievers because we know that there are many great dogs that need our help. We are NOT professional trainers or animal behaviorists; simply volunteers who are trying to save these dogs from euthanasia.

Our Adoption Process...
Our dogs are mainly fostered in Tennessee and Alabama in one of our many experienced foster homes if one is available; if not, the dogs might be kept in boarding until adopted. We have many wonderful dogs looking for homes! All of our animals receive rabies vaccine, distemper/parvo vaccine, bordatella and spay/neuter (if age appropriate) and are on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. All of our dogs come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $450 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm/flea preventative, as well as their transportation to your area.

Our rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not possible to meet them prior to their adoption. Our dogs are brought up to their new owners weekly! Our transport service is certified through the USDA. We have a 14 day no questions asked money back guarantee and the dog can be returned to us if things don't work out. We try hard to get good matches in our homes so that everyone has a happy life together!

We currently volunteer for other rescues and can provide references from these rescues, previous adopters, and our veterinarians if requested. Please e-mail us for an application or information at info@FORrescue.net

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gwenna, a Nanuet Basenji/German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basenji/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Nanuet, or seeking a Basenji/German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Nanuet.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Nanuet already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Nanuet breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basenji/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Basenji/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Nanuet paves the way for another one to be saved.
