Spunky's Story...
Spunky is a very gentle, shy, and timid, male Chihuahua/Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. He is approximately 3 years old and is just a tiny little guy that weighs 11 pounds. Spunky was found as a frightened stray. He may not have been treated well in his past because he can be fearful at first with new people. But, once he knows you, he lets his hair down and is very loving. He is great with other dogs and is looking for a quiet all-adult home.

Spunky is healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on rabies, distemper and bordatella vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. His adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact Ray at or 847-639-6801. He is currently being kenneled in Union, Illinois and would love to get out of the kennel and into a loving home environment!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spunky, a Chicago Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Chihuahua/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
