Harley's Story...
Harley is a 1 year old male Chocolate Lab mix. He weighs about 50 pounds and came to us from the Austin city dog pound. Harley is young and harmless, but has some raw energy for which he will need an outlet. He’s bright and smart and some basic training will work wonders for him. He’ll need a home that can give him an outlet for his high energy level, and he is a typical Lab in that sense. We can't say for sure if he is housetrained or not, based on being in a 5' x 5' kennel pen for most of the time at our Shelter. His new home should plan to do some housetraining. The adoption fee for Harley is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harley, a Austin Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
