SAGE's Story...
Sage is a happy-go-lucky 18-24 month female Border Collie/Retriever mix. She is mostly black with some white and she weighs 54 lbs. If you are looking for a sweet, fun loving, playful dog and at times described as a "goofball", this is the dog that will keep you laughing. This girl loves playing fetch! If you have a ball, Frisbee, plush or squeaker toy she is ready to party. Her energy level is medium to high which is common for her age. After she has chance to get some energy out she does calm down and relax. She knows the basic obedience commands, and will do the sweet gesture of offering you her paw. Sage walks well on a leash and will stay close by, even on a 30 foot training lead. She is very eager to please and has that loyal personality from both breeds. Sage is house trained, crated trained and has wonderful house manners. She loves to go for car rides and if allowed, rides very well in a passenger seat but happily jumps in to a crate if needed. Sage is friendly and submissive when meeting other dogs and is very playful as soon as she has a chance to warm up to them. She has not been tested with cats and would do best in a home with children over 8 years of age. Sage enjoys the company of women. However, she is a little shy with some men, but with patience and a gentle voice, she can warm up in no time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SAGE, a San Pedro Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in San Pedro, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in San Pedro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Pedro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Pedro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Pedro paves the way for another one to be saved.
