HANZ's Story...
SRC does not adopt out its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children.

HANZ (SRC #1177 ) is a young male Miniature Schnauzer that just came to SRC for our help. Hanz was found by a vet in NC who could not let him stay in such horrible shape! This wonderful dog had been severely neglected for some time because he was found to be positive for both Heartworms and Hookworms. Hanz had to be shaved down due to matting and unbelievable filth. He was so pitiful that he even had matting in between all of his toes. Despite all the neglect and horrors that he has suffered, Hanz has the best disposition! He is very sweet and holds no bitterness toward anyone. He is 24 pounds of pure love! Hanz is already House-broken, walks well on a leash, is asuper quiet Mini (no one has heard him bark yet), loves car rides, great with small and large dogs (both male and female) and even cats. This handsome boy will be a great family pet. He is an equal opportunity dog and truly loves all people alike both male and female with no real preference for either . Hanz is Crate trained...goes in on command and doesnt make a peep. Sleeps in his dog bed at night without making a sound. SRC cannot imagine how this boy ever got left behind!

Hanz is getting heartworm treatment this week and he will be ready for adoption by the first week of May, 2012. Apply today to reserve this great boy for your family.

HEARTWORMS ARE HORRIBLE PARASITES THAT CAN SHORTEN ANY DOGS LIFE WHEN LEFT UNTREATED; HOWEVER SRC HAS TREATED WELL OVER 50 DOGS WITH HEARTWORMS AND N O N E OF THEM HAVE EXPERIENCE LIFE-LONG EFFECTS AFTER TREATMENT. THEY GO ON TO LIVE HAPPY HEALTHY LIVES. NONE HAVE HAD THEIR LIVES SHORTENED AND THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE HAS BEEN GREAT!

Hanz is currently being fostered in Richmond, VA so you must drive there to pick him up when he is adopted.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

HANZ, a Lenoir Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Lenoir, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Lenoir.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lenoir already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lenoir breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lenoir paves the way for another one to be saved.
