Jake's Story...
FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, Idaho

Meet Jake! Jake is a 3 year old Border Collie mix that came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue because he didn't make a good herding dog. And it's obvious why....Jake has the sweetest soul and is a very quiet dog. He doesn't want to run around and chase other animals; he just wants to be a pet. Because of his history, Jake isn't totally house trained yet and needs all of his basic obedience training. He has come quite a ways in his short time with us and is very eager to please.

If there is one word I could use to describe Jake it would be: KIND. He is a very sweet and calm dog, yet he does surprise me every so often by being playful --especially as he gets more comfortable in his surroundings. He's very sensitive, so a quiet home with children over 12 would be best as chaos and commotion make him a little uncomfortable. Jake so far is a little a-typical of border collies, but I have seen him come out of his shell as he's gotten more comfortable. So a new home should be familiar with herding breeds and an experienced dog owner to provide structure and training. He'd do well in a home with another well-adjusted dog to show him the ropes. He's good with cats, strangers, and other dogs.

Jake has a very thick coat, so he will need regular brushing to keep it from matting. Jake is the size of your typical Border Collie and weighs 35 lbs.

Fuzzy Pawz has gotten Jake neutered and brought up to date on all vaccines

If you would like to meet Jake please complete an adoption application on the Fuzzy Pawz website and we will have his foster mom Kristen contact you. Application: http://www.fuzzypawzrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm

The adoption fee for Jake is $40 plus the cost of his vetting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jake, a Boise Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Boise, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Boise.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boise already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boise breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boise paves the way for another one to be saved.
