My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

.I'm one of the Texas Schnauzers

What does that mean? I am currently located in Texas but once I find a new home, I will come to the MD, VA, DC area for my adoption.

I’m Schnazzy and I’m a male, white Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. I’m about three years old and I weigh about seventeen pounds. Things just weren’t going my way. I was abandoned. I found myself in a shelter. Then I was attacked by Pit Bull. Then I had to be completely shaved. The Pit Bull thing I could deal with. But getting shaved? Oh, just wait until my beard and furnishings grow back! I may not look like a Schnauzer right now but I’m one handsome Schnauzer boy and someone better get me while they can! I’m a super sweet guy and would do well with humans of all sizes! I love children!! I get along with all other dogs….OK, all but that one mean guy….and I can go to a home with or without another four-legged friend to play with. I’m crate trained (and generally sleep there at night) and I’m house trained too! I ride well in the car and enjoy playing with my toys. All in all, I’m a fine catch! So that’s the show! Now what comes next? Right! You, asking for me, Schnazzy!
Schnauzzy's owner must be willing to take him through a basic dog obedience class and provide proof of completion within four months of the adoption. Proof of enrollment in a dog obedience is required before/at the adoption. If you would like to be considered to adopt Schnauzzy, you must first apply. Then please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net. If you've already applied, please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net to be added to the list of those being considered. To apply on-line, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on the on-line application.

Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees. We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover.

PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and southern Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications within a reasonable driving distance of our areas of coverage. Please read the list at the top of the on-line application to see if you are in our area. For a rescue contact in other areas, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on Rescue Links. We have a need for volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Our website also features lots of great information about the rescue process, book reviews and training tips - plus the best schnauzer items for purchase! All proceeds benefit schnauzers in need. Thanks for your support!
