Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Kody" is an 8-yr young (nine in May) spayed female black beauty GSD who is energetic, sweet, and obedient. Kody is in amazing shape for her age--she is muscular, extremely active, and can jump right into a 4WD pick-up w/out a running start. Kody is friendly with strangers but will alarm-bark appropriately. She is good with kids, including her current owner's grandchildren. She is very good with new dogs, but somewhat alpha with those in her own home. Kody has never been around cats so a home w/out cats is a must for her. Kody is a medium-sized GSD, but solid--probably weighs about 70-75 lbs. Her coat is plush and shiny.
Kody comes from German working lines--she is a high-energy GSD always ready for a job. She's exceptionally alert and quick to obey commands. Her off-leash recall is excellent, and she's also good on leash. Kody loves to play fetch and go swimming in natural water bodies such as Folsom Lake. She's a great hiking partner and loves the snow. She's a nearly 9-yr old dog who is ready for a few more years of serious outdoor activity before couching it.
In spite of Kody's many positive attributes, her present owner doesn't really want her. Kody has always been too much dog for her to handle, and consequently has relegated Kody to the back yard with little attention.
Over the last year, an acquaintance of Kody's owner--who is very experienced w/ GSDs--has spent time training and exercising Kody. If he didn't have two dogs of his own, he'd surely adopt Kody. Now, he's showing his fondness for Kody by helping to find her a new home--with her owner's graces.
GSRSV has evaluated Kody and is placing her as a "Program Dog." This means that GSRSV is seeking a new home for Kody through its adoption program while her owner continues to care for her. Kody's adoption fee is $175.
