My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birthdate: 2/6/12

Gender: Female

Breed: Rottweiler/Sharpei/Border Collie mix

Siblings: Nathaniel, Gabriel, Elijah, Raphael, Michael, Cherub, Sariel, Micah, Dina

These adorable pups might be named after angels, but it wasn’t a heavenly chorus that heralded their arrival. Instead, it was a squeal of tires outside a Youngstown church as the people who dumped them beat a hasty retreat.

When one of the church’s employees came out to see what all the commotion was about, she discovered nine incredibly tiny pups in a “Lettuce” box, 18 eyes all blinking up at her in the sun.

She quickly scooped them up and took them to the Mahoning County Dog Pound, but the pups were so young and tiny that the pound didn’t have the resources to care for them properly. Thankfully, that’s where we came in. A quick call to New Lease on Life, and the pups were on their way to safety.

Since then, it’s been smooth sailing for this crew. All nine have been in foster care since five weeks old and have been spoiled by their adoring foster moms. They have been hugged and cuddled and very well socialized with other dogs, cats and kids. They absolutely love them all.

We believe the pups are Rottweiler/Sharpei/Border Collie mixes based on their size and markings. We’re expecting them to reach 70 to 80 pounds as adults, so potental adopters should plan on a large dog once these pups have all filled out.

The pups are currently paper trained, but we recommend switching straight to housebreaking once they’re in their new homes. They all are very smart and love to learn new things, so they’ll pick up on it in no time. We recommend crate training as the easiest way to housebreak and would be happy to give you some pointers.

Interested in adopting? Please call 330–397–8270 to schedule an appt to meet the pups. They are currently in foster care, so an appt is required, and these cuties won’t last long. We are now scheduling meet-n-greets with potential adopters. At the meet-n-greet, you will be able to see the pups and choose your favorite. From there, you must fill out an adoption application. If approved, you must leave a 50% deposit ($100) in order to reserve your pup. They already have spay/neuter appts scheduled for the end of this week, so you won’t have long to wait. As soon as your pup is fixed, he/she can go home with your family.
